Being one of those people who are not technically minded, I had a slight panic when I couldn't connect to the internet.

I run a small business from home and having access to my emails is vital for my business to survive, so, cue panic and worry and trying to find the information by using my phone. Not a great solution since I don't like using my phone for anything other than calls or (rarely) texting, and a few hours later I was left feeling even more confused trying to figure out what the lights mean on my router and what's wrong with my internet.

I eventually found myself on thehelpline.com and – finally – knew what was going wrong with my router and connection. The instructions on the site were clear and got directly to the point, and even on my phone I could follow through to get my connection reset and my internet back up and running.

The best part though, is that the information was completely free, and I didn't have to wait around on an automated system or call in to an expensive techsupport line.

I am now back on my computer and my emails are coming through without a hitch. All in all, rather happy with the outcome.

If there is one thing I hate it is calling in to Customer Service. I spend hours on the phone going around in circles with a computer that can't process a single word I say, and when I finally do get to the option to speak with an advisor, I'm on hold for ages waiting to be connected.

All I wanted to do was speak to someone so I could update my details. I'm new to computers and wasn't sure how to go about updating through my account on the internet, but apparently, talking to someone is impossible.

I gave up in the end and tried to go through the web and when I needed help, I got thehelpline.com. I wasn't happy that I got them since they were nothing to do with what I wanted, but luckily they did have the information I needed, and it was set out so it was easy even for novices like me to understand.

I got my information updated in minutes, and I wish I'd gone through it this way instead of wasting hours of my life on the phone to a computer.

My tumble dryer died on me last week. I have a large family and I needed it fixing straight away, even though it was out of its warranty. A quick search got me to this place which got me the direct phone number for Hoover, and the form I needed to book a service engineer.

So glad I didn't spend forever on the phone.

As far as I am concerned a printer is something I take out of the box, plug in and use, so I wasn't happy when I took out my Kodak printer, went through the installation and then couldn't connect it to my home wifi. I know what my password is, and I know I was entering it correctly and still the printer rejected my password. I work with computers, and printer errors are fairly common, but this was impossible- I even resorted to a complete re-installation, restored my computer and... nothing.

I tried searching google for help, and even the Kodak website but there was nothing. Even through there was no specific information on the helpline.com, I resorted to submitting my question, and 10 minutes later had a phone call from a lady who took me through step by step and got my printer set up and connected- all of this at no charge to me.

Comes to something when a different company know more about my problem than the manufacturer does.

I needed my BBM. I topped up, still didn't get it. Found out I was on the wrong dataplan. My phone provider didn't tell me this, but a free website did. Go figure.

My Tomtom lost its GPS signal. The tomtom website said it was a “legacy” model and there was no official support for it. This from a company I gave my money to.

I went to thehelpline.com and asked my question. Had a call back from a guy there within half an hour and he helped fix my problem.

I have a Miele cooker and I have been having trouble with it for a while. I have searched and searched for help with it, through the Meile website and through google and the only thing I got back was this website. I found the number for Meile, but still annoyed I had to go through a third party.

My mum is old and only just starting out with using computers and the internet. We set her up a Facebook account so she could keep in touch with us and old friends and we've had nothing but trouble since. Her account has been hacked twice, and it runs so slowly- the stuff on thehelpline website has helped some, but at this point, we wish we'd never bothered.

Came here for some help with my Xbox. You didn't have much about xbox's, but I asked a question and got a reply. Help was good, but it took too long getting to me. 4/5 stars. Would have been 5 if you got back to me faster.
